A height-adjustable power liftgate is handy when loading and unloading the car without manually opening doors. Some features come with certain trims, such as a sunroof and roof rails, which were added to the Highlander beginning with the second trim. The XLE also has a hands-free liftgate for additional convenience.
Interior Design
There are three rows of seats in all trims of the Toyota Highlander. Seating material varies, and the cabin has plenty of personal storage space. There are more cubic feet of space behind the second row in the Highlander compared to other cars in its class, which makes the Highlander an optimal choice for Franklin drivers who don't travel light. The second and third rows of seats fold flat when needed. Captain's chairs are available on some trims to give people more room. The XLE upgrades to synthetic leather upholstery. The front passenger seat is also adjustable, and the second row has sunshades. With this trim, captain's chairs can seat seven rather than eight people. Heated front seats also make the XLE a good choice for comfortable driving in cold weather. The XSE adds interior ambient lighting as an upgrade.
Performance
The same engine will power all Highlander models in 2024. The latest Toyota Highlander uses a turbo four-cylinder engine that produces up to 265 horsepower. This engine comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Although front-wheel drive is standard, Abbeville shoppers can get all-wheel drive instead.
Technology
There's plenty of technology across the Highlander lineup. The base model has a digital instrument display panel starting with an eight-inch infotainment screen. The XLE has those features, plus a wireless phone charging pad. A navigation system is available as an add-on item.
